The Idea
.
As a young boy I was attracted to art, specifically to painting and drawing with pastel colors. Through painting, I aimed to express motion and integration of an object by using soft color passages. In 1978, I began a new journey with my wonderful wife and my two boys along with starting my own business.
One afternoon while sorting and organizing printed photos in our family computer, I decided to revive the old brushes to see what they could do. They helped me to rediscover the world of painting. Instead of traditional compositions, I was able to capture the images of candid photos, taken by an unskilled hand at unusual and odd angles. Those rough, non-artifice photos, in all their simplicity, brought out the intimacy and emotion of the subjects. The paintings of the photos captured the mood and the "magic" of the moment.
Since making this recent discovery, friends and family have asked me to capture their special memories. Some paintings are hung in the homes of friends while others have been auctioned off to raise money for charities like Multiple Sclerosis and Dollars for Scholars. I invite you to join me on my journey of using my love of painting to help as many people as possible.
